Work out how much stuff you have to shift:-Up to two bed:

Three or more beds:

Decide whether you want to pack yourself or get the removal men to do it   
If you pack yourself, check with your current insurance company if you need additional insurance
for your items in transit 
Search on-line for the different costs of moving your items eg self-move versus man with a van versus removal company  
Bear in mind if you are under pressure to move on the day eg out by 1pm, then you will have to have everything out at this time and if it’s raining it may all be left on the lawn!
