What was the London Rental standard?
The London Rental Standard joined landlord accreditation schemes, which operated under joint framework.
As a landlord by signing up, you were a part of a campaign to promote high standards in London’s private rental market.
As a tenant if your landlord or agent was signed up to the London Rental Standard but you weren't happy with their service, you could ask who they are accredited with and contact them directly.
The LRS helped you know what you needed to be aware of as a landlord. Things like having a gas safety check every year and all the legals around fire safety.
It was a fantastic way to set you apart from the rogue agents. By becoming a member of the scheme, you and your customers would know that you were complying with the law and offering a quality service.
Why did Kate work with them? The LRS was a great initiative to make sure landlords were well educated and kept up to date with the law in London.
Kate said: “All landlords and letting agents need to invest time and thanks to the scheme, a bit of money, to help keep themselves up to date and their property’s let legally. There is lots of confusion of what you should/shouldn’t do and too much of the internet can’t be relied on for right advice, but the LRS is spot on and can be trusted.”
