Make sure the solution is designed by landlords for landlords or by a company who is established in the landlord market – this will make it much easier to use.
Does the solution cover the major requirements that landlords have including:
  • Extensive rent and tenancy management functionality
  • Full expense management solution for recording all your property expenses
  • Calendar and reminder system for alerting you to all landlord related tasks
  • Integrated accounting engine and tax report to keep your accountant and the taxman happy
  • Online document storage solution to help keep all your property documents in one place
  • Powerful one touch financial and portfolio performance reports
Find out if they have any endorsements from landlord organisations e.g. the NLA or the RLA.
Check for awards their software has been given by landlord/property related events.
Find out if you can have a ‘free trial’, a free demo or is there a money back guarantee?
Can the software be backed up e.g. on a cloud/other server so it’s safe.
What hardware platforms can the software work on? With the growing trend in cloud based software, an increasing number of landlords want software that will run on PCs, MACs, tablets and smartphones.
How many computers/devices can you install/use the software on – just one or several?
Can multiple users access the software and remotely? For example you have a tenancy manager who enters rent payment details.
How do you pay for the software and are there any minimum term contracts?
How often is the software updated?
What support is provided?
